Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!

Each year at Easter, my daughter and I enjoy doing a bit of baking and crafting. I’m very practical and love making things, and this seems to be rubbing off on my daughter, Yasmin. Actually, just today, Yasmin decided that she wanted to adorn the house with Easter decorations and make scrummy, rocky road rice krispie treats.  How could I possibly have refused that! Nearly all of the yummy treats are to be distributed to all of her cousins. Of course we’ll make sure that we won’t give all of them away. I have a very sweet tooth and they will be a perfect accompaniment to a hot beverage!

It didn’t take us long to decorate our Easter tree – a much smaller version of the white Christmas tree, but without any leaves – with cute decorated eggs. The sweet treats were simple to make too, with not much baking involved. We decided to pour our ingredients into fairy cake moulds, instead of making one large slab and cutting it into individual pieces.

If you fancy a bit of baking and/or a bit of craft, then here are a few ideas for you to try…

Pretty Easter card designs

Easter is only a few days away and back in January, I created a few Easter card designs, for this very occasion. If you take a look at my previous post, ‘print workshop‘, you can see the initial sketches and shapes that I used for my pretty Easter card designs.

I wanted this set of designs to represent the feeling of spring; incorporating greens and yellows with other pastel shades. There are also many textures in this set. The techniques used were lino printing, Illustrator (used for drawing the flowers) and various tools in Photoshop to bring it all together and finish off. As with many of my other designs I have used a range of media (with a few collaged buttons). I love the clean crisp lines that you can achieve in Illustrator and these sit very well with the textures. The text was applied at the end in Photoshop too.

I hope you like my pretty Easter card designs. They were definitely fun to produce and each card is different in design, yet I’ve kept the ‘look’ very similar.

I like all of my designs, but this one just has to be my favourite! I love how all the flowers and the bird are centralised, with the eggs situated around the edges. The text is centre-aligned at the bottom. This composition is simple and effective, as they say!!

Have you bought your Easter cards yet and will you be indulging in some Easter eggs?
