Packaging illustration for Uppercase magazine

I’m a big fan of Uppercase magazine and I regularly buy their latest editions.  My husband bought me a subscription for Christmas, so I’ve been getting the magazine for the past six months.

The other day I felt very excited, when their summer issue popped through my letterbox, containing a recent packing illustration I produced for their ‘Packaging Portraits’. I just adore packaging design. Maybe it’s the combination of graphic design and illustration which I’m drawn to on tins, bottles, cans, paper and so on… The article talks about the appeal of packaging. I’d definitely recommend getting it, if you like graphic design.

The brief was to make an illustration or painting of my favourite packaging, whether contemporary, vintage high end or “so bad it’s good” design! I decided to draw soap packaging, originally designed by illustrator Olga Capdevila. I just love the smooth illustrative style, especially the shapes and pretty colour palette.

When I go to Harvey Nichols, I always take a look in their food department. You’ll usually find an array of cool packaging designs. Awesome!

I’d like to share with you my packaging illustration for Uppercase magazine.
